Today marks one year since the passing of climatologist and longtime Global Green USA board member Dr. Stephen H. Schneider. As one of the first climate scientists to bring light to the issue of global warming and one of the key members of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) that received the Nobel Prize, Steve was an environmental champion who worked tirelessly and fearlessly on educating and seeking solutions for a better future.
We were lucky to have had the chance to work closely with Steve. In honor of his memory, we are creating the Stephen Schneider Senior Fellowship and Summer Fellowship to advance climate solutions and translate and communicate science to the public and decision makers (with thanks to Steve's widow Terry Root and Michael Haas of the Alliance for Climate Education). Further details about the fellowship program will be announced in the coming months.
