In national news this week, NFL owners and players settled their drawn-out labor dispute, which means the football season will kick off as planned. In LA news, the Farmers Field downtown football stadium plans from developer AEG continue to evolve and it’s looking more and more like LA is ready for some football. This could be a boom for the city of Los Angeles -- or it could be a bust, unless plans for public transportation options are guaranteed. Here's a simple step LA residents can take to help make sure a new stadium won’t snarl us in traffic -- and choke us with carbon emissions -- for years to come. Send a letter to your city council member, asking that AEG be required to provide specific transit options in the finished Environmental Impact Report. To do this, click here to sign our letter to your council member asking for provisions to be made for transit. (Note: If you’re not sure who your council member is, find out from the LA city site by typing in your address under “Neighborhood Resources.”) Finally, find out more on the issue on our City Carbon Index site.
