Exciting day for us in New Orleans, where we had a press conference with Mayor Mitch Landrieu to launch the new NOLA Wise program dedicated to helping homeowners improve the energy efficiency of their homes.
In partnership with the City of New Orleans, and with funding from the Department of Energy’s Better Buildings Program, Global Green USA is managing the NOLA Wise program to help local homeowners perform energy efficiency upgrades on their homes, using nationally certified green building contractors as well as affordable financing.
"NOLA Wise offers to New Orleans residents a one-stop shop for how to make their homes more comfortable and efficient," said Elizabeth Galante, the director of Global Green USA's New Orleans office. "We help participants every step along the way, so homeowners know they are getting high quality work for the best price," said Galante.
A nationally-certified NOLA Wise auditor will perform an initial inspection of participants’ homes, including a blower door and a duct blaster test to check for air leaks and inefficiencies in the building. Each homeowner will receive a customized list of recommendations to help achieve a minimum of 15% improvement in energy efficiency.
Homeowners can also get help from the program accessing incentives through Entergy’s EnergySmart program, as well as low-interest loans at a local financial institution. Highly trained Building Performance Institute (BPI) contractors are enlisted for the NOLA Wise program and Green Coast Enterprises provides quality control over each job to ensure that the desired energy savings are achieved. With the help of program's other major partner, the Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance (SEEA), we are committed to investing in the growing green jobs sector in New Orleans as part of a national workforce development initiative.
