Walker Wells was at the LA Convention Center today for the National Conference of the American Planning Association. Walker led one of the conference's popular facilitated discussions along with panelists Doug Farr and Matt Raimi. The topic was how Green Urbanism and sustainability are shaping the city of future. Discussion points:
- Sustainability has broad support as a concept but there are few visions of how a sustainable city looks and feels.
- Cities need to develop local systems for producing food, generating energy, managing waste, and capturing water.
- Planners need to be leaders in making green strategies an integrated part of every project and plan.
