A post on the Climate Progress site is one worth sharing: "Cities Are Leading the Charge on Climate Change." This effort by the Carbon Disclosure Project to expand their work with businesses into evaluating local government climate action is already providing valuable insight. The results of the study were presented as part of the Mediterranean Cities Climate Adaptation Conference I participated in last week, to frame the discussions of the Built Environment Working Group. It is incredibly valuable to see the types of actions cities are taking and how the level of action is dispersed globally. It is also exciting to see that so many cities are working to reduce energy use in both municipal and prviately owned buildings, as these strategies are technologically mature and simultaneously address both climate mitigation and adaptation.
