One of our ongoing programs is to work on building green schools and helping existing ones make upgrades. And we have learned that even small actions make a big difference.
Recently, we donated a recycling bin to Public School 116, The Mary Lindley Murray School in Midtown Manhattan, for use in the teacher's lounge. As you can see from the photo, this is not an ordinary bin. This one was made by Clean River, a member of Global Green's Coalition for Resource Recovery and it has three separate and color-coded compartments that can be adjusted to take between one to three waste streams. This allows one bin to do the work of three. In space-constrained spaces, such as teacher's lounges, this comes in handy.
