Yesterday I had the pleasure of returning to my alma mater, Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs, to speak to a group of students of the Energy and Environment MPA program. The presentation was arranged by former Global Green intern extraordinaire Evan Cook, who helped to develop our Coalition for Resource Recovery's groundbreaking waste characterization for Pret a Manger. I focused my talk on the unique and vital role that nonprofits play relative to the public and private sectors, and the conversation afterward was lively and thoughtful. I was glad to have the opportunity to share the Global Green model of on-the-ground research and coalition-building with students from around the world poised to step into high-powered positions at government agencies, nonprofits, and private companies upon graduation. It's always great to spread the word!
