Above, I am with Finn Longinotto (right) attending the 2013 Inauguration Celebration of President Barack Obama, hosted by the Council for a Livable World and the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation on Sunday, January 20, 2013. The event took place in the Ballroom of the Phoenix Park Hotel, on North Capitol Street NW, just a block from the U.S. Capitol and Union Station in Washington, D.C.. The occasion also honored the newly-elected members of the 113th Congress. Many members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives were in attendance, including Senator Bernard Sanders, Independent from Vermont; Senator Angus King, newly elected Independent from Maine; Senator Tammy Baldwin, newly elected Democrat from Wisconsin; Representative Suzan DelBene, newly elected Democrat from Washington; and Representative Mark Takano, newly elected representative from California. They all gave uplifting speeches regarding their hopes for a bipartisan resolution for many of the domestic and foreign challenges facing the U.S. today, including advances toward our mutual goal of a world free of weapons of mass destruction.
