BeGreen, a division of Green Mountain Energy Company has donated renewable energy credits (RECs) to offset all of the electricity generated from the 2009 Pre-Oscar Party. The 2009 Pre-Oscar Party's electricity is carbon neutral. By offsetting the electricity for the event, over 2,150 lbs. of CO2 will be avoided. To put this in perspective, this has the same environmental impact as not driving your car over 2,400 miles or the annual forest sequestration of 130 trees. Furthermore, by offsetting the electricity for the Pre-Oscar Party, it is equivalent to recycling more than 5,300 aluminum cans or recycling over 865 pounds of newspaper.
