NOV: How to Find the Green to Go Green
Global Green is proud to partner with the American Institute of Architects, New Orleans Chapter and the U.S. Green Building Council-Louisiana Chapter to present a monthly panel discussion series on issues of sustainability in the built environment.
This month's panel, hosted by the United States Green Building Council - Louisiana Chapter, will focus on the challenges, solutions and assistance as you pay for your green construction or renovation project, specifically discussing any tax incentives that are available for financing a green renovation or project.

Global Green's Build It Back Green team will be a part of this exciting Central City Event, and we hope to see you there!
The Oretha Castle Haley Merchant's Association and Main Street Initiative is hosting the 2nd Annual "Make a Joyful Noise Gospel and Arts Festival". The Boulevard will come alive with the inspirational sounds of gospel music along with visual artists and crafts people displaying their original works of art along O. C. Haley Blvd between Felicity and Euterpe Streets.
On Saturday, November 15, 2008 from 11 am to 6pm, Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard will vibrate with the sounds of Gospel music! The Ashe' Cultural Arts Center located at 1712 Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard will be the location for the Gospel Music performances as well as food, arts and crafts vendors from all over New Orleans. The festival is free and open to the public.
Conversation with NOLA100
This coming Friday, October 17, the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is hosting a conversation with Keith Canfield and Tammy Agard of NOLA100 at the offices of Global Green.
NOLA100 is an organization that has been working to rebuild homes in Holy Cross for the last 100 days. Using Americorps workers and Salvation Army funds, they have maneuvered through various obstacles to come away having renovated almost 50 houses into comfortable, energy efficient homes for the people of Holy Cross. They will speak about their experience and the lessons learned that can be taken to other valuable projects. After a brief presentation, we will open the floor for questions and comments. Light refreshments will be served

NEW ORLEANS RECOVERY DISCUSSION WITH DR. BLAKELY
On October 16th, join us to discuss New Orleans' Recovery with Dr. Ed Blakely of the Office of Recovery and Development Administration (ORDA) and other non-profit leaders. This breakfast meeting will include a detailed discussion of New Orleans' recovery and an update on progress to date. Dr. Blakely will answer questions about ORDA's recovery efforts.
This Quarterly Policy Breakfast Series is hosted by City-Works. Light breakfast served.

NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS WORKSHOP
Global Green USA and the Tulane School of Architecture are co-sponsoring a National Endowment for the Arts Workshop led by Maurice Cox, Director of Design at the NEA. The purpose is to help organizations better understand the process by which they may secure grant funding from the NEA. The next deadline for submission of grant proposals is March 10, 2009, so this is a perfect opportunity to listen to the director's advice and to pose any questions you may have.

Also, please note that Mr. Cox will be delivering a public lecture at the Tulane University School of Architecture, Richardson Memorial Hall Room 201, at 6:00 PM on Monday, October 13. The title of his talk is "Design for All."

NATIONAL TOUR OF SOLAR HOMES
The Global Green House will be featured on the National Tour of Solar Homes, this Saturday October 4th, from 10am-1pm.
The National Tour of Solar Homes is held every October throughout the United States. In over 100 communities in 42 states, solar homeowners open their doors to visitors to demonstrate the renewable energy and conservation features of their homes. The tour highlights solar energy technologies that are working right now, in real places for real people.

HOLY CROSS PROJECT VISITOR CENTER OPENING
The Global Green Holy Cross Project Visitor Center is now open. There are four docents, provided by the Holy Cross Neighborhood Association (HCNA), along with Global Green staff, who will lead tours of the completed home.
The Visitor Center hours are as follows:
Monday, Wed, Friday 11-4
Saturday 10-1
Tours include explanations of all the green materials and systems included in the home, such as reclaimed wood floors, Energy Star appliances, green roof, solar power, geo-thermal, and more. Global Green anticipates the visitor’s center will educate thousands of visitors, residents, developers and elected officials on ways to create greener, more affordable homes.
