Activist, Owner, One Gun Ranch
Organizations she’s part of: One Gun Farm and Daylesford Foundation
Alice has enjoyed an holistic, deep understanding of sustainable food since childhood. Daughter to Carole Bamford and growing up on the Daylesford Farm, it was un-avoidable. This has gone to another level in more recent years, where Alice founded One Gun Ranch; nestled where the mountains meet the ocean in the canyons of Malibu. One Gun Ranch grows and supplies the finest bio-dynamic organic produce, created from rich, compost-improved soil. Enterprise is rife on the ranch; it holds tours for inner city children, lessons on how to grow food bio-dynamically and make gift planter boxes made of reclaimed wood filled with their home grown herbs.
“We’re taking organic farming one step further . . . [and] we’re creating harmony with nature,” said Bamford, whose family operates an organic farm in England. “It has much to do with our closed-loop system . . . whatever doesn’t get used or the little bit that doesn’t get sold at the market comes back here.”
