Global Green Room Staff Interview: Iman Douglas
I would like to think that I'm surprisingly quick in executing projects.
Who is your hero?
Mother Theresa has been my hero since I was a young child. Growing up Catholic, I learned at an early age what a phenomenal woman she was. She was a great example of how a human being can live so selflessly working to help the less fortunate, which is something that I'm most passionate about. Everyone needs help.
What has been your greatest success?
My greatest success would be transitioning from the Archdiocese to Global Green USA after ten years of employment. Learning that I beat out hundreds of applicants for my position really gave me a confidence boost.
What about a failure or challenge?
I have faced many disappointments in life, all of which have shaped the person I am today. As a result, I've learned to never take NO for an answer. There are always alternative solutions to most problems -- if you keep trying. Every failure/disappointment has taught me a lot about life. If you want something, you must go out and get it. Never wait on anyone or anything to achieve your goals.
Favorite green book?
"Dolphin Baby." This is my all-time favorite book. One, because I love dolphins; and two, because it narrates a baby dolphin's journey in the sea. The book takes you through the baby dolphin’s first breath as well as his experiences with life under the sea with the help of his mother to guide him along the way.
Favorite green movie?
"The Blue Planet, Seas of Life." I enjoy this movie because I love watching sea life. The many species under water are so beautiful. Very enjoyable to watch.
Favorite way to spend a free day?
I enjoy bike riding with my boyfriend. If it's hot -- the beach, of course. I also don't mind just curling up on the sofa to relax watching movies.
If you had the power to make one global and green change, what would it be? I would like to eliminate all air pollution.
