CWC 2013: Day 2 Report
The CWC conference in the Netherlands resumed for the second day yesterday with statements made on behalf of nearly thirty countries. Common themes of these statements ranged from demand for universal membership of the CWC, to further investigation into the situation in Syria, article XI issues, and the use of toxic chemicals for law enforcement. Tuesday also consisted of four side events including the issuance of a report by the EU Institute for Security Studies regarding the future of the CWC in the post-destruction phase, as well as humanitarian perspectives on chemical weapons, a historical exhibit of German chemical weapons, and a meeting on Russian-German cooperation on their cooperation towards the destruction of chemical weapons.
