I’m stuck in a bad relationship. I think you’re stuck in a bad relationship too. In fact, I think we’re all stuck in a bad relationship. And I’ll tell you why. Starting with a little story. Two planets walk into a bar. One has amazing peaks, and lush valleys, and deep blue oceans. She has clear skies and verdant forests. The other planet? She’s sick, she’s barren, she’s pockmarked and brown, and burning up with a fever. They belly up to the bar, size each other up..... Click here for the rest of the story.
Hollywood's Greenest Event
Global Green hosts the green event of Oscars week to raise awareness about global environmental issues, and funds for our projects that improve the lives of people in need. This year, we will use the event to launch our Rio+20 (aka, the Rio Earth Summit) campaign and citizen entrepreneur/local green hero contest. Thanks to Evaline, The New Division, DJs Garth Trinidad and Michael Smith (and additional musical guests to be announced soon!), we'll also have a little fun dancing while trying to save the world. Check out samples of the music from the headliners here and get tickets here.
Photo Contest for Valentine's Day
For Valentine's Day this month, we are celebrating with #greenlove posts on Twitter. Send us your pics! We want to see your garden, your farmer’s market, your favorite park or hike location, your meals cooked with organic greens, or other "green love" images from your life. Flickr faves, smart phone pics, or artsy ones from Hipstamatic and Instagram -- just use the #greenlove hashtag to share your green love photos with us on Twitter at @globalgreen. (For non-tweeters, you can also post photos to our Facebook wall. On February 13, we will pick our favorites for a Valentine's Day Green Love photo gallery published on our site.
This video shines a spotlight on a project Global Green helped make green:Casa Dominguez, which serves low-income Los Angelenos.
Keeping up with Global Green news is easy: get weekly updates on green news that affects us all, monthly report cards of what Global Green staffers are doing, and daily updates on Twitter.
I AM Challenge Winner
We received great photos and pledges for our I AM Fighting Climate Change Challenge. And the lucky winner selected -- Felicia of Marina Del Rey, CA -- won two VIP tickets to our upcoming Pre-Oscar party.
