Call for Local Green Heroes
Message from Matt
Last month, I wrote about how we are stuck in a bad relationship with planet Earth. One of the ways we can rebuild our relationship with the Earth is to reclaim our role as citizens. We need to call for a nation of citizen entrepreneurs: people who love their home, who love the earth, and who can connect the dots regarding the global challenges we face. We want to shine a light on local green heroes with Global Green's Citizen Entrepreneur Contest. Nominate someone before March 21 and we will choose 10 finalists before opening up the voting online to the public. A winner to be awarded $1000 to help fund their green project -- and get a chance to join our delegation to Rio for the UN Earth Summit in June 2012, where we will share the inspiring stories of citizen entrepreneurs on a global stage. Read the rest of my post and nominate someone today.
Photos, Interviews & More
Once again, we hosted the greenest event in Hollywood during Oscars week to raise funds and awareness for our work -- and kick up our heels. This year, headliner Sheila E. even called Matt on stage to dance! Get the scoop with photos of the green carpet's best eco fashions, interviews with those who helped us behind the scenes, and all the eco-friendly details, from the living green wall inside the venue to the organic cocktail served in the Chevy Volt lounge.
Green School Pep Rally
Getting Into the Green Spirit
We were down in Austin, Texas, last week for a Go Green Day pep rally at the Texas School for the Deaf, the winner of our Green School Makeover Competition. In the months ahead, we will document our progress on projects to make their school more energy-efficient and reduce water and paper waste. Our work continues to help schools make green upgrades to improve student performance and health. You can make a difference, too: find out how you can green your school and help us with our work with a donation or fundraiser on Crowdrise.
