Global Green Executive Director of Programs - Santa Monica

Global Green USA seeks a committed and energetic person to join our Santa Monica office as Green Urbanism Program Director. This individuals would work with local governments, affordable housing developers, architects, planners, and other non-profit organizations to develop and implement green building, renewable energy, and sustainable planning projects and programs at a variety of scales. We are a small and nimble team - ideal candidates are demonstrated collaborators that are comfortable working independently on multiple projects.

Responsibilities

Lead technical and administrative support for Green Urbanism Program project areas such as LEED certification, tactical urbanism installations, green building consulting, and environmental planning and design. Advise on Global Green’s current programs including stormwater management, climate resilience education and outreach, local climate policy, and responsible materials management.

The Green Urbanism Program Director will assist with logistics, maintain project checklists, prepare LEED certification packages, conduct site analysis, develop sustainable planning documents, create graphics, and help produce project reports.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate and document green design charrettes and community workshops

  • Contribute to the creation of maps, site plans, illustrations, diagrams, and other graphics

  • Layout and draft narrative text for project reports and proposals

  • Conduct research and analysis for Green Urbanism Program publications and projects

  • Assist in the general administration and management of the Green Urbanism Program, Coalition for Resource Recovery, Water Wise NOLA, Community & Climate Action Center, and DC Environmental Network

  • Develop partnerships, connections, and funder relationships to provide creative opportunities for new projects at GGUSA

Preferred Qualifications

  • [Mandatory] Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Design, Urban Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or other related environmental field

  • [Mandatory] Master’s in Environmental Design, Urban Planning, Architecture, or Landscape Architecture

  • [Mandatory] LEED Accredited Professional

  • At least 5 years experience within the nonprofit industry

  • Experience working with municipalities

  • Strong command of Adobe Creative Suite, Rhino / AutoCAD, GIS, and Microsoft Office

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, public speaking experience a plus

  • Robust analytical ability and developed spatial thinking

  • Able to work independently and take initiative

  • Interest in sustainability as applied to urban conditions

  • Project design and management skills; flexible and able to move between different project scales and topics

  • Personnel management; the ability to effectively lead a small to medium sized team

Details

Sustainable Cities Internship

Global Green USA (GGUSA) is dedicated to helping the people, the places, and the planet in need through catalytic projects, transformative policy, and cutting-edge research. Responsibilities

The Sustainable Cities intern will contribute to research and pilot programs for projects that include increasing compost use and markets in urban areas, low carbon mobility, urban water management, energy efficiency in low income housing, and sustainable neighborhood planning. The intern will provide a conduct analysis, literature reviews, and help coordinate events and/or webinars. 

Requirements

- Research experience
- Relevant academic background

Time Commitment: 20 hours per week in the office, for a minimum two-month commitment.

Communications, Marketing and Corporate Relations Internship - Santa Monica

Global Green USA's Communications, Marketing and Corporate Relations team is seeking an intern to work in the Santa Monica office.

Responsibilities: Assist Communications, Marketing and Corporate Relations team with research, analysis, tracking and outreach, and administrative tasks.

Eligibility: Candidates must be pursuing a college degree in related field. Must be enthusiastic, energetic, reliable and flexible. Must have outstanding communications skills. Must be locally based in Los Angeles.

Time Commitment: 20 hours per week in the office, for a minimum two-month commitment.

Location: Our office is located at 1617 Broadway  Second Floor, Santa Monica, CA 90405.
