Sustainable Cities Engineering Internship Summer 2017 - New York
Global Green USA (GGUSA) is dedicated to helping the people, the places, and the planet in need through catalytic projects, transformative policy, and cutting-edge research. Global Green's signature programs include greening affordable housing, schools, neighborhoods, and cities across the United States through our 4 office locations; Los Angeles, CA, New York City, NY, Washington D.C. and New Orleans, LA. A key part of Global Green's work in urban sustainability is with pilot programs, research and events that promote recovery of food scraps from being buried in landfills. The reason for this focus is not only to keep valuable nutrients in our food system, but also to prevent the release of methane - a powerful greenhouse gas that forms when food scraps decompose in a landfill environment.
The Sustainable Cities intern will contribute to research and pilot programs for increasing compost use and markets in urban areas. The intern will provide a conduct analysis, literature reviews and help coordinate events and/or webinars.
This internship is for students with a focus on technical feasibility studies that include both logistical and economic feasibility. The intern will be responsible for communicating results to Global Green staff and communications consultants and volunteers. The intern will analyze items such as equipment options, distributed waste processing, cost analysis, and the use of recycled materials (including compost) in the built environment.
