13TH ANNUAL SUSTAINABLE DESIGN AWARDS HONOR EVE ENSLER, THE RUDIN FAMILY AND GREIF

New York, NY –  Global Green USA (www.globalgreen.org), a national environmental organization, held its 13th annual Sustainable Design Awards last night at Three Sixty in New York City.  Established in 1999 to recognize specific advancements in industry, building, media, organizations, and public policy, the Sustainable Design Awards honor those who are “tearing down the walls” that stand in the way of a sustainable and secure world through their innovative design.  This year the organization honored Eve Ensler, William Rudin, and Greif for groundbreaking work in sustainability.

NOLA Businesses Get Wise

New Orleans, LA (October 16, 2012) -- As part of the continuing effort to promote energy efficiency, the City of New Orleans announced today that the NOLA Wise initiative will expand to include commercial services and loan program designed to help local businesses make energy-saving improvements. NOLA Wise, a partnership between the City, Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance, the Department of Energy’s Better Buildings Program and Global Green USA, helps individuals make their property more comfortable and efficient through services such as a professional and thorough energy assessment, quality work from vetted contractors and access to incentives and loans to pay for the retrofit.

Global Green USA Selling Green, Affordable Homes in Lower 9th Ward of New Orleans

JUNE 19, 2012 - Global Green USA, an environmental nonprofit headquartered in Southern California, with offices New Orleans, has placed four LEED Platinum, single-family homes on the market in New Orleans’ Lower Ninth Ward. These homes are the result of a design competition led by Matt Petersen and Brad Pitt in 2006, in which more than 125 entries designs were submitted for a net-zero-energy affordable housing and community center development in the Holy Cross neighborhood. The homes have been called “21st Century Shotgun Houses” for their nod to the city’s traditional housing stock with a modern redesign emphasizing efficiency, resilience, and functionality.

Texas School for the Deaf Unveils its Global Green USA’s National Green School Makeover Competition

New York, NY (May 22, 2012) – Today the Texas School for the Deaf (TSD) in Austin, TX, unveils its Global Green USA Green School Makeover Competition, presented by Pureology.  Over the last three months, TSD has worked alongside Global Green USA and Pureology to implement the proposed green upgrades on campus to conserve energy, water, and educate students and school staff on recycling – with cost savings that will be reinvested into the student’s education.
