GREEN PACKAGING IN THE BIG EASY: GLOBAL GREEN USA'S COALITION FOR RESOURCE RECOVERY TESTS RECYCLABLE SEAFOOD BOXES

July 22, 2013 (New Orleans, LA) - New Orleans seafood is going green. Global Green USA's Coalition for Resource Recovery (CoRR) joined forces this past week with the New Orleans Fish House to test recyclable coated corrugated boxes as methods of transporting locally caught seafood. These innovative boxes, made by CoRR members Cascades Industrial Packaging and Interstate Container, are designed to be recyclable, unlike the paraffin-coated packaging typically used, and also withstand the icy seafood packing process.

GLOBAL GREEN USA SELECTS TWO COMMUNITIES IMPACTED BY HURRICANE SANDY TO RECEIVE SUSTAINABLE PLANNING AND REBUILDING ASSISTANCE VIA U.S. EPA GRANT

Los Angeles, CA (May 23, 2013)—Two American communities impacted by Hurricane Sandy will receive free neighborhood design consultation in 2013 from Global Green USA with the help of a grant from the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Building Blocks for Sustainable Communities Program. A team of sustainability experts will conduct three-day visits this fall to the impacted communities to conduct a neighborhood assessment and develop comprehensive recommendations for infrastructure and policy changes aimed at helping the communities increase resiliency, resource-efficiency, livability, and public health.

NOLA Businesses Get Wise

Global Green USA Selling Green, Affordable Homes in Lower 9th Ward of New Orleans

JUNE 19, 2012 - Global Green USA, an environmental nonprofit headquartered in Southern California, with offices New Orleans, has placed four LEED Platinum, single-family homes on the market in New Orleans’ Lower Ninth Ward. These homes are the result of a design competition led by Matt Petersen and Brad Pitt in 2006, in which more than 125 entries designs were submitted for a net-zero-energy affordable housing and community center development in the Holy Cross neighborhood. The homes have been called “21st Century Shotgun Houses” for their nod to the city’s traditional housing stock with a modern redesign emphasizing efficiency, resilience, and functionality.
